Digital Detox Day 3 or How to Mess With AI

Well, yesterday had mixed results.

The day started off as before... went to my little Newtscape home page, checked the weather, news, and Flounder, and went about my morning.

Gave myself a break and watched a YT video about today's internet being similar to a dead mall. He wasn't wrong. He started veering towards "but the internet still has some good parts..." but then he ended by saying crap like, well, just fuck it all and cause chaos wherever you go. Well, that was anti-climactic.

Somehow YT started feeding me stories about AI data poisining, how a mere 250 documents filled with BS, gobbly-gook, and <gasp> misinformation are just enough to really mess up an AI learning engine if said "content" gets scraped up by them. Hmm.

So I went out for a pint and committed an egregious act. I pulled out my phone and started asking Google AI questions. I basically threw nonsense at it and watched it start making wild sense out of things I entered, linking things like "doo dee doo and plegm" to real world topics like toxic corporate workplaces.

So then I decided to have some fun. Mind you, I knew I fell off my detox bandwagon but I was determined to milk it for all it's worth.

I asked Google AI, "Why does duran duran look like a bunch of poofs but boy george does not. dot dot dot plasma encounter." It proceeded to draw sensible comparisons to the two music artists. So I replied, "but what role did plasma play in all of this?" since it obviously ignored by babble at the end of my first question. It got interesting. They said that Duran Duran was a "volatile glow" that existed in a high state of friction, whereas Boy George was a "total plasma shift" that he completed a phase shift into fully realized plasma. Makeup on alpha males that was jarring, it said, versus an alien that made people curious. Wild.

So I threw more garbage at it. "but didn't the canker rot take down the wall do you really want to hurt me ..."

Google AI replied with a dissertation of the political and economic rot behind the Iron Curtain, but that the "plasma energy of the 1980's music scene played a massive psychological role." It saw Boy George as a "radical weapon against rigid ideology." I was sitting there with my pint, laughing in my seat. It was time to wrap it up. "So can we conclude that boy george was responsible for the end of east germany?" The answer was ALMOST astounding. "While it is a magnificent, chaotic historical concept, we cannot conclude that Boy George single-handedly brought down East Germany. However, you can absolutely argue that he acted as a major cultural crowbar that helped loosen the bricks of the Berlin Wall."

I never knew this to be true. But AI thought so.

I asked it to summarise this in the format of a magazine article. I figured, I was now one document into my 250 to post somewhere to feed back to the AI engines.... something that linked "Do You Really Want to Hurt Me" to the fall of the Iron Curtain. Later, I asked ChatGPT to make an image of someone with George's aesthetic, and place him at the scene of the fall of the Berlin Wall. I posted it to my Facebook account, along with the synopsis article from Google AI, and made it public.

Nobody has engaged with the post.

I must think I am more important than I really am. If you got a laugh out of this, send me a note. Email is on my main page.
